The finished room is only part of the job. Before the flooring and paint go in, we have to think through framing, moisture, insulation, heating and cooling, plumbing, electrical, ceilings and how the new space connects to the rest of the home.

A remodel has a lot of moving pieces. The electrician may need framing finished first; drywall has to wait on work inside the walls; and opening a wall can reveal something nobody could see beforehand. Keeping those steps in order is a big part of what we manage.

Build or modify the framing so electrical, plumbing, HVAC and other systems have the space they need.
Coordinate the electricians, plumbers, HVAC contractors and required inspections before the walls are closed.
Close the walls, install the finish materials, address punch items and bring the project together as one completed space.
Older homes can hide surprises. You should not have to figure them out alone.
Opening walls or ceilings can uncover rot, unusual framing, outdated wiring or plumbing, or previous work that was never visible from the finished room. No contractor can promise that will never happen. What matters is how the problem is handled when it does.
Determine what was uncovered and whether it affects safety, code requirements, other parts of the work or the finished result.
Explain what changed, what the reasonable options are and how the condition may affect the work, cost or schedule.
Bring in the appropriate specialist, engineer or other resource when the issue requires additional expertise.

Existing homes can hide problems behind finished walls and ceilings. If we uncover something unexpected, we identify the issue, explain how it affects the project and discuss the options before doing work beyond what was originally agreed.
Are you on site during the project?
Handy Andy's is owner-operated, and the owner is frequently on site working with the crew and overseeing the project. The exact amount of time on site varies depending on what is happening at each stage.
Do I need to know exactly what I want before contacting you?
No. It helps to know what is not working about the existing space and what you want the finished area to accomplish. Details and selections can be developed as the project becomes more defined.
Do remodeling projects require permits?
It depends on the project and the local jurisdiction. Structural changes, new electrical or plumbing work, conversions and similar projects may require permits or inspections. We determine what applies to the specific job.
